At every step, we try to complete the journey of life according to our culture. But the customs in weddings are amazing and unforgettable. Which is impossible to forget in life. Come, I am trying to tell you how marriages take place here.
turmeric ceremony
When the wedding begins, there is an atmosphere of happiness in the house on both the bride's side and the groom's side. After the engagement, the date of marriage is fixed and the rituals begin. It begins with the ceremony of turmeric. Boys do this ritual at their homes, while girls do it at their homes. In this ritual, unmarried boys at the boy's house offer turmeric to the boy amidst the chanting of Pandit ji, or rather apply turmeric. In the same way, five unmarried girls also like turmeric. Also women sing traditional folk songs.
wedding procession
On the day of marriage, a marriage procession leaves the boy's house and reaches the girl's house. The women first bathe the boy while singing traditional folk songs. Then the boy's brother-in-law decorates by wearing new clothes. After decorating the boy is called var or groom. The bridegroom is addressed by name only till the marriage takes place.

tamarind bite
After that, there is a ceremony of plucking tamarind. Which is done by the maternal uncle of the boy. In this ritual, the mother of the boy (groom) makes the groom sit on her lap. The maternal uncle places the mango leaf in front of the groom. The groom bites the leaf a little with his teeth. The small piece is swallowed by the mother of the groom. Water is kept in the pot. The maternal uncle gives the water of the lote to the mother of the groom i.e. his sister. This ritual is performed five times.
The same ceremony takes place at the bride's house at the same time. This ceremony is performed by the maternal uncle of the groom at the groom's house and the maternal uncle of the bride at the bride's house.
door worship
When the procession arrives at the bride's door, the first ritual is Dwar Puja. In this ritual, the groom is made to sit outside the bride's house in front of the main door. The father of the bride gives the seat to the groom. The Kalash is worshiped by the Pandit. The father of the bride and groom are involved in this puja. Together they perform the puja performed by the Pandit. Finally Tilak is applied to the groom by the father of the bride. Then this worship ends. This is called door worship.
Jaimal
Immediately after Dwar Puja, the groom is taken to the stage. There the bride is brought by her friends and brothers. The decorated bride and the decorated bridegroom are the focal points of the people on the stage. Everyone's eyes are on both of them. After some banter, the bride garlands the groom with Jai Mala. The groom also garlands the bride with Jai Mala. Then the bride and groom are made to sit on a throne-like chair placed on the stage. The same people from the groom's side and the people from the bride's side give blessings to the bride and groom in turn. With this the ritual of Jaimal is completed.

barnet ceremony
See, such a beautiful ceremony is celebrated in our weddings here that you will be curious to know and will also like it very much. One such lovely ceremony is that of Barnet. In Barnet the bride is worshiped by the elder brother of the groom. Here the elder brother of the groom comes to Madwa disguised as Bhasoor. The bride is already sitting in Madwa. Puja is performed by the Pandit to the bride and Bhasur (elder brother of the groom). Bhasoor applies Tilak to the bride. He garlands the bride as a blessing. Then the bride is gifted clothes, jewelry, sweets, fruits, etc. by Bhasoor. In all these rituals very lovely lovely traditional songs are sung by the women which make the rituals even more beautiful. In this way the ceremony of Barnet is completed.
It is important to tell you about Madwa. Because without knowing Madwa, knowing all the rituals of marriage will be incomplete.
what is madwa
See, in Hinduism, marriage of a girl means Kanyadan by the girl's father. And in Kanyadan, a father donates all the things needed by the girl child along with the girl child. Whether it is clothes, jewelry, or things ranging from the girl's sleep to cooking. You can say like this that a father donates all the things needed by the girl according to his ability along with the girl. So that the daughter does not face any problem in her in-laws house. The work of Kanyadan is done at the donated place itself. In the courtyard of the house, a roof is made measuring five cubits long and seven cubits wide by the hand of the bride. New and green bamboo and Khar (a type of grass) are used in this. All the rituals related to marriage are done under this roof. Kanyadan is also done under this roof. This place is called Madwa.
Kanyadan
After Barnet, the ceremony of Kanyadan takes place. Kanyadaan is performed by the parents of the bride amidst the chanting of mantras by the Pandit ji. It is a very emotional moment. There are tears in the eyes of all the people present there at the time of Kanyadaan. The parents make the bride sit on their lap. Amidst the chanting of mantras, the Kanyadan ceremony is completed by fulfilling many rituals.

Mathadhka
Mathadhka is a very beautiful custom in weddings. Which is performed after almost all the wedding programs. In this custom, the bridegroom is the father (samdhi) of the bride and the groom. The bride is sitting. There is a pallu of saree on her head. The groom lifts the pallu of that saree. The groom's father drops the pallu on the bride's head. The groom then lifts the pallu up. The groom's father lowers the bride's pallu again. This method is done five times by both. There is also a hidden message in this ritual. This is a very lovely ritual. Its message is that the groom says that I will not keep my wife in bondage. That's why he raises the pallu of the forehead, while the groom's father says that he will have to remain bound in the sacraments. So he covers the pallu again. This is a ritual and recognition.
Farewell
In the end, the daughter is separated from her maternal home. It is a very emotional moment. It is said that at the time of daughter's parting, tears come in the eyes of even a stone hearted person. A girl grows up in the house where she lives since childhood. When she leaves the house forever after saving a lot of memories of that house, it is natural for tears to come from her eyes. In that one moment of farewell, all the memories revolve in front of his eyes like a reel of a film. It is very painful to leave the love of father and mother, the love and chatter of brothers and sisters, the company of friends in a moment.
In this way marriage is a confluence of customs and rituals. The relationship between two families is also strengthened by customs and rituals. These customs help the coming generations to connect with the previous generations.
